Atkins Gregory Sweeps Up 'Spring Clean'

Atkins Gregory has reached agreement to acquire Cambridge Industrial & Commercial Cleaners Ltd, who trade as 'Spring Clean', with immediate effect. The acquisition is part of the company's ambitious growth plans which will see them increase employment of cleaning professionals across the region from the current 200 to reach 250 by 2013.

'Spring Clean' started trading in 1959 and was, at its peak, one of the biggest independent industrial cleaners in the area. As part of this acquisition, Atkins Gregory will take on ‘Spring Clean’s existing contracts and all their staff, including David Williams, the company's Managing Director, who will be retained within the business as a consultant.

"I'm delighted to be handing over the business to another successful independent cleaning company", said David Williams. "After 38 years with 'Spring Clean' I feel it’s time to follow other pursuits. I know that our existing staff and customers will be extremely well looked after by the team at Atkins Gregory."

Paul Prime, Managing Director of Atkins Gregory said: "This acquisition will take our annual turnover to over
£2 million. It is a strategic move in our expansion plans and further developments are planned to allow us to continue growth in 2012 and beyond."

Paul also added, "We look forward to working with our new customers, who will benefit from our commitment to quality and the environment through our ISO9001 and ISO14001 accreditation standards and staff training. All 'Spring Clean' staff will be fully inducted into our quality and environmental procedures."

Atkins Gregory Chairman Greg Gregory said, "It's great to be able to acquire a competitor with such a good reputation for service and high standards. I have every confidence that the staff of 'Spring Clean' will enjoy working for another independent company." Greg further added: "We regard this positive move as a really exciting development that will benefit both local businesses and employment."
